GENETWORx Laboratories located in Glen Allen, VA has become the leader in nationwide COVID-19 testing and will be expanding our testing capacity through the implementation of several mobile laboratories in major cities across the US. We are seeking Medical Technologists with experience in the area of molecular microbiology to perform testing, analysis, and reporting of laboratory test results in our Mobile Lab in Phoenix, AZ. This lab will specifically focus on COVID-19 testing so clinical laboratory experience in molecular infectious disease testing is strongly preferred.

Shifts:

· M-F: 10hr day/night shifts, 12pm-10pm or 10pm-8am

· Wknd AM: 12hr day shifts (7am-7pm) + can pick up during the week

· Wknd PM: 12hr night shifts (7pm-7am) + can pick up during the week

This position is directly under the supervision of the on-site Laboratory Supervisor with remote and on-site support from the Lab Manager in the Molecular Division. The position is responsible for conducting procedures in a high-complexity laboratory environment according to laboratory and lab operations standard operating procedures. The position of Medical Technologist is broad in scope, encompassing a strong background in basic sciences and at least a year of experience in patient-related testing. All test systems in the lab are molecular-based and require a strong attention to detail to perform DNA/RNA extractions and assays with specialized molecular techniques and analysis instrumentation. Key to performance will be efficiency in the daily workflow, proactive approach to training, and demonstration of solid team building and awareness.

Specific Responsibilities:

· Performs complex molecular diagnostic DNA based tests in a high complexity laboratory.

· Ensures the laboratory is kept in a safe working environment and in compliance with OSHA and other laboratory safety standards.

· Participates in all OOS and OOT investigations within the Molecular Lab.

· Handle clinical samples and interface with the laboratory information management system (LIMS).

· Interact with operations and accessioning personnel in conjunction with molecular lab testing workflow and meeting established case turn-around-times.

· Participate in CAP and Alternate Proficiency testing programs.

?Education and Experience:

· Must meet CLIA requirements for testing personnel – moderate to high complexity.

· Required (one or both): Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist (MT)or abachelor’s degreein Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related biological science/clinical field

· Minimum of one year experience working in a clinical laboratory setting – experience inMolecular (DNA based) analysis strongly preferred.

· Knowledge of PCR based procedures and PCR contamination control required.

Competencies:

· Knowledge of clinical laboratory quality and safety regulations.

· Experience operating PCR instrumentation, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and data review.

· Work to be proficient in All Lab testing platforms.

· Familiarity with preparing and reading manual differential preferred.

· Experience using and creating general documents using MS Office Suite and/or Google documents.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent written and oral communication.

Work Environment: May work in a variety of laboratory environments at Biosafety Levels I or II. They spend much of their time on their feet, actively working with patient samples on complex equipment.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
