Salem Academy seeks an excellent math teacher for our 7th grade students. The ideal candidate has experience with standards-based grading and is committed to raising student achievement through an integration of rigorous college preparatory classes with service to the community. Mission: Through a unique integration of college preparatory classes with service to the community, we graduate informed, articulate, and proactive students of strong character.Qualifications Belief in the mission and vision of the school Relentless commitment to raising the academic achievement of all students Commitment to standards-based teaching and learning Ability to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful environment for students Experience working with a diverse student body Experience teaching math and a sound understanding of the Common Core Excitement about integrating academics with service work Interest in working collaboratively to improve instruction for all students Eagerness to be part of creating an innovative and rigorous middle and high school program Possession of Massachusetts Teacher Certification or successful completion of the MTEL preferredResponsibilities Aligning curricular standards with state guidelines Monitoring student progress through standards-based assessments Analyzing student data Differentiating instruction Teaching 3 math classes each day Tutoring one day per week after school Planning and leading service-learning projects Advising students through daily Connections class Inputting academic and behavioral data on the school data management system Participating in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences each trimester and communicating regularly with families about academic and social issues Building and maintaining strong school culture centered on achievement Implementing common academic and behavioral procedures to ensure a structured, respectful, and achievement-oriented school Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school mission Participating in weekly professional development sessions (e.g., Curriculum Teams, workshops) Participating in weekly Form Meetings (e.g., grade level teams)Salem Academy Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.
