Expectations of a Middle School Assistant Baseball Coach:
**
Job Goals:
Assist with all activities of the Middle School Boys Baseball Team.
Work closely with young men to develop, train, and play baseball as well as supervise and monitor all student-athletes academically and athletically.
Commit to building a in-season/off-season young men's baseball program.
Has experience building relationships and a willingness to coach young men playing baseball.
Instruct/guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence, and good sportsmanship.

Performance Responsibilities:
Cooperate in a timely manner with School Athletic Office and District Athletic Department in regard to requests for information (i.e., Rosters, Physical Forms, Parent Permission Forms, Emergency Medical Forms, Pre-season/Post-Season Reports, and other program information relative to the sport and any other additional information that might be periodically required.
Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective team members.
Meet all requirements of the District Board of Education and The Ohio Department of Education relative to Coaching Certifications.
Follow District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (.OHSAA).
Assist with the scheduling a full season of contests including OHSAA sponsored State Tournaments for that sport.
Assist with pre-season practices on the first day permitted for that sport by the OHSAA.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violation(s) occur.
Set a positive example at all times while with student-athletes as well as model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices, respect of student-athletes, and practice constructive criticism. Is appropriately dressed at all practices and games.
Develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all times. Maintain suitable sideline conduct including the use of appropriate language at all games with respect to players, parents, officials, and fans etc.
Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.
Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and use good judgment in decision-making.
Is competent in techniques of the sport and players respond positively to directions given. Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
Ensure that team is well prepared for opponent(s).
Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each team member.
Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times.
Assist with the maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.

Skills/Essential Functions:

Ability to motivate and inspire others.
Ability to serve as a positive role model.
Demonstrated knowledge of skills associated with this activity.
Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, officials, fans, etc.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:
Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is desired.
Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupils Activity Permit. Provide proof of current C.P.R.and First Aid Certifications. Provide satisfactory completion of the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHSlearn.com) Fundamentals of Coaching and Concussions Courses. Provide completion of Ohio Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Coaches Training/Certification. Provide completion of COVID-19 Training/Certification.

CONTRACT PROVISIONS:
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Supplemental Annual Limited
SALARY: Per Schedule E of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
