Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/SCCM Administrator

Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/SCCM administrator entails troubleshooting technically complex problems that could potentially affect all of the entire computer systems in the company. Problem resolution sometimes starts with no defined source of trouble and requires broadest possible knowledge of all client systems and applications. While some of these duties are routine like identifying systems that are not communicating with MECM/SCCM. Others require researching solutions, interacting with multiple people, full understanding of clients, and networks.

Client Administration – Provide overall administration of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/SCCM. Includes designing, implementing, planning, managing, and client configuration. Package build, collections, software management, deployment management, and in depth system reporting. OSD task sequence management and deployment. Client group policy evaluation.

Client Services Support – Define and follow Process and Procedures for assigned platforms. Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support as needed. Train technical resources (e.g. Desktop Support Technicians) in the operation and troubleshooting processes of the Configuration Management (SCCM), Power Management, and Patch Management platforms. Provide escalation support as needed.

Automation Administration – Design and manage the systems that support automated services. This includes tools for Configuration Management (SCCM), Power Management, and Patch Management. Provide reports on system usage.

Cyber-security – Ensure security of enterprise infrastructure by following or developing hardening guides and best practice guides of all client operating systems, and software. Antivirus management, vulnerability scanning and remediation.

Project Management – Must be able to define and plan their work for client maintenance, upgrades and software migrations. May serve as a project coordinator or lead of interdisciplinary teams for initiatives within the subject area. This may include implementation of assigned new client projects, such as researching, testing, developing and deploying new hardware/software on clients (desktop/laptops). Create documentation and author desktop job aids as assigned.

  • Must be able to use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager to automate processes and manage Software on enterprise computers.

  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate issues, including writing skills for technical job aids.
  • Ability to identify problems, perform troubleshooting, analyze, and plan actions necessary to resolve.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS network protocols and services.

  • In depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/SCCM configuration, tools and system management, and reporting required.
  • Experience installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems for use in an enterprise network environment.
  • Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting computer hardware such as hard drives, motherboards, memory, and other components.
  • Experience providing 2nd and 3rd tier client system support
  • Experience with service management ticketing system for tracking client work
  • Experience installing, configuring, deploying, testing and supporting Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience installing, configuring, deploying, testing and supporting computer software.
  • Experience supporting software utilities to protect computers against malware, and to detect and clean malware from computer hard drives.
  • Experience installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems for remote computing using tools such as VPN.
  • Experience with scripting creation and automation.
