Responsibilities

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has been providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for over 35 years. The Meadows is seeking to add full time, day shift Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to our team. Full time MHTs work three, 12 hour shifts per week (7a-7:30p). Schedules do include participation in weekend and holiday rotation. Not interested in full time work? MHT Responsibilities include:

Mental Health Technicians are direct patient care providers responsible for positive role modeling, crisis intervention, facilitation of group activities and patient safety. Basic care activities such as taking patient vitals are also part of Mental Health Technician responsibilities. Mental Health Techs work within the nursing department under the direction of an RN Charge Nurse and Unit Nurse Manager.

All Mental Health Technicians will participate in our paid classroom orientation activities as well as on the paid job training activities.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma with patient care experience is required. Post-secondary training or education in related field with experience preferred.
  • Position also requires excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile.
