Looking to join a rapidly growing company? MEnD Correctional Care is seeking an enthusiastic Mental Health Professional located in Elk River, MN to be a key team member in our organization!

As a company, we pride ourselves on providing high quality care to the patients we serve. Candidates must enjoy working with an underserved population and be willing to work in a jail setting, where patient and staff safety is of high importance. This Mental Health Professional will provide care under the direction and supervision of the Behavioral Health Services Director and MEnD's Executive Medical Director.

Schedule:

  • 2 Days per week in Sherburne - office hours
  • 3 Days per week cross-coverage telemedicine (MN but could include WI or SD potentially)
  • Rotating on-call in Sherburne loop - can include evals and welfare check during off ours

BENEFITS:

Benefits: Your employee benefits will start the first of the month following 30 days of full-time employment. Our Health insurance plans are currently offered by United Healthcare and MEnD currently will pay 80% of the premium for the Base Medical plan and other costs apply for the other two (2) medical plans.

We offer other benefit plans that include vision, and dental insurance (MEnD pays 100% for Employee Only) and other costs apply. You will be responsible for any premiums for electing additional Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), short term disability, long term disability, Heath Savings Account, Additional Life Insurance, Accidental Insurance, and Critical Illness.

Life Insurance: MEnD pays 100% of a Basic Life/AD&D with $25,000 coverage.

401K: You are eligible to participate in the 401(k) program once you complete 90 days of employment and the employer matching begins after one (1) year of employment. You will become fully vested after one (1) year.

Paid time off (PTO) Available to Full Time Employees: You are currently eligible to accrue 4 or 5 hours of paid time off per pay period that will accrue upon hire. PTO CASHOUT – ALLOWED TWICE A YEAR!!!!!

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology/Social Work/Community Counseling
  • Current/Active Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional status in Minnesota (LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW)
  • Open to licensed eligible applicants as well
  • Applicants must have a current license in Minnesota.

Job Duties:

  • Delivers mental health care for county jail inmates utilizing our advanced mental health policies, procedures, and protocols. These processes include evaluation/assessment, planning, and implementation of treatment plans for inmates' mental health issues.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with our medical team of medical providers, nurses, health techs, administrative assistants.
  • Foster effective communication between the medical team and correctional staff
  • Accountable for mental health documentation, tracking, evaluation, non-prescribing orders, and follow-up of the inmates’ mental health care.
  • Be able to recommend non-psychopharmacological treatment options to the medical provider when necessary.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Other various duties as assigned, may include working via telemedicine with other facilities served by MEnD

Job Skills:

  • Ability to provide independent, critical thinking skills regarding an inmate’s mental health in the jail setting.
  • Understand and possess pharmacology, safety, and mental health skills necessary to perform the Mental Health Professional role.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adjust mental health techniques to accommodate the needs of the specialized population within the jail setting. This includes communication between mental health staff, medical staff, and jail staff about the care of the inmate while understanding and adjusting for these unique security issues.
  • Ability and willingness to apply motivational interviewing skills, cognitive behavioral therapy, and reality therapy.
  • Demonstrates ability to diagnosis and treat symptoms that are current and present and not based solely on patient report.
  • Assertive and confident decision making given this unique population.
