Overview:

This Medical Screener performs on-site medical screening specifically for COVID-19 as a means of prevention of spread within the Joslin Diabetes Center.

The Medical Screener is an unlicensed medical role specifically operating within the protocols established for screening humans for possible infection utilizing individual questionnaires, a brief assessment consisting of a temporal l temperature, and general appearance according to the protocols.

This position does not require the establishment of medical care and treatment for affirmative responses to the questions or temperature checks as the protocol specifically addresses these issues on a case by case basis, and via consultation with licensed medical personnel.

Schedule for this role is 8:30am - 5:00pm (Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities:
  • Administering medical questionnaires directly to Staff, Visitors and Patients.
  • Administering and interpreting the temperature of an individual using temporal according to manufacturer’s instructions and CDC guidance for personal protection.
  • Document and communicate findings and results of the medical screening as required and listed within each site plan as per protocol. Based on results, will allow or reject entry into facility.
  • Coordinate with security and/or physician as needed, for individuals who do not pass the screening and are denied entry into the facility.
  • Provide all patients and visitors to the facility with surgical mask and ensure mask is worn properly.
  • Don and Doff PPE as required within the protocol for performing medical screening.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly presentation of the desk and screening areas. Keep track of stock level for masks, ensure working conditions of thermometers, attestation forms, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • General computer literacy and proficiency
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, visitors and patients of the organization.
  • This position may require working outdoors and indoors, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods of time.
  • This position consists of shift work. Typical shifts are 8 hours per day, a mixture of day shifts, and night shifts as required by the client site.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time
