Position Summary
:


Under general supervision and following established procedures, obtains blood, tissue and other specimens needed for laboratory tests. Processes all lab specimens following established procedures.


Major Position Responsibilities
:


The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.   • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Obtains blood, tissue and other specimens.
  • Verifies and enters patient information on specimen labels.
  • Performs related clerical duties, included but not limited to, maintaining patient and testing records, logs and filling.
  • Evaluates collected specimens for volume, collection container and other measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • One year relevant work experience in a laboratory or healthcare facility, preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months Phlebotomy experience, preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, required.
  • Knowledge and ability to use medical terminology, preferred.
  • Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Education:

  • Associates degree (2 years college) in life science courses or equivalent, preferred.
Education:
  • Medical Assistant certification required.
