POSITION SUMMARYTo provide clinical assistance to the assigned physician or nurse practitioner on duty. The Medical Assistant (MA) is a member of a health care team, which includes, a Provider, a Registered Nurse (RN), a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) that has been assigned a panel of patients. Participation goal in this care team model is to provide patients with an ongoing relationship with the team and continuity of care through all stages of care.   • MA brings patient back from the waiting room and completes intake including vitals, medication reconciliation, medical history, and Quality Measures in the EMR
  • Present End of Visit materials to patient including labs, referrals, and educational teachings including demonstration of new medications/DM supplies.
  • Performs lab testing as ordered by the clinician (including pediatric/adult immunizations, venipunctures, EKGs, assisting the clinician with exams, minor surgical procedures, non-surgical procedures, tray set-up, etc…)
  • Checks patient related messages and reviews them with clinicians. Makes return phone calls to patients, pharmacies, and other groups with clinician recommendations
  • Assists assigned clinician with patient cases, labs results, medication refills, etc
  • Maintains Vaccines for Children (VFC) log sheets as assigned by the LPN Supervisor
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties assigned by the LPN Supervisor (i.e. follow up boxes, lab/exam room organization, sterilization of instruments, etc)
  • As part of the Care Team, understands the NCQA Patient Center Medical Home Standards and expectations.
  • Prepare and present patient information including DRVS to Care Team during regularly scheduled morning huddles
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:One to two years related experience Computer Skills:Must possess a general knowledge of, and ability to operate, general office equipment including computer systems, copier, fax machine, paper shredder, autoclave, EKG machine, Spot Vital sign machine, tympanic thermometer, hematocrit spinner, blood specimen centrifuge, blood glucose monitor, audiometer, oxygen saturation monitor, liquid oxygen cylinders, liquid nitrogen storage unit and AED. Certifications & Licenses:Medical Assistant certification or equivalent in years of experience. Annually Required Respiratory Protection Fit TestOther Requirements:Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work with clinicians, co-workers and patients in the delivery of quality healthcare. Clinical skills necessary to effectively meet the healthcare needs of the patient in a safe, professional and cost-effective manner. General medical clinic operations, services and functions. Basic laboratory testing, venipuncture, pediatric/adult vaccinations and other injections, EKGs, ambulatory desaturation studies, vital signs (including manual blood pressures, manual heart rate/respirations and performing orthostatic). Knowledge of computer basics. Basic understanding of OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA and Rural Health Clinic regulations. Thorough understanding of Vaccines for Children (VFC) requirements/regulations. Graduate of an accredited school for medical assistants, or the equivalent in years of experience: RequiredWORK ENVIRONMENTOffice environment in a controlled atmosphere building.
