Job Purpose: To facilitate the flow of the office by acting as a liaison between the physicians and patients by working directly with the provider to deliver high quality, compassionate customer service and clinical care.
Qualifications
Experience, Education and Licensure:
- Experience: Previous work in a medical setting preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of Medical Assistant program preferred. Certifications accepted:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Graduate of Medical Assisting Program (MA)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Emergency Medial Technician (EMT)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General:
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information as regard to HIPAA laws
- Performs any administrative or clinical duties as requested by the provider
- Displays exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Meets/Greets/Assists patients promptly, efficiently and in a professional manner
- Obtains, verifies, and inputs all information accurately in the electronic health system
- Answer telephones and/or messages promptly
Clinical:
- Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate
- Records patient data prior to each physician’s visit, including but not limited to, vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration), height, weight, head circumference, allergies, and medication changes
- Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician and verifies presence of consent prior to treatment or procedures
- Completes all forms used by the provider in providing services accurately
- Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms as needed while maintaining room disinfection protocols and making sure medical supplies are not outdated (examination rooms should be inspected in the morning and afternoon or evening).
- Assists physicians with exams and a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to injections, dermatologic procedures, pelvic exams, EKG’s, eye exams, managing dressings, POC lab tests, and performing x-rays (training provided)
- Administers medications orally, vaginally, and rectally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and intradermally. Administering prescribed drops to the nose, eye, and ear, applying antibiotic ointments to the inside of the lower eyelid
- Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by provider
- Schedules patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions and scheduling appointments to follow-up on tests results, as applicable
- Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing education literature

- All clinical tasks directly involving patients are allowed only after a competency check, formal approval by the supervising physician, and after an order from the on-duty provider.
