Works under the direct supervision and responsibility of the Division Office Manager. Assists staff, providers, residents and medical students with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks using a team- based approach in providing patient care. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care services. Conveys a positive image of USF Health. Note: Must successfully demonstrate competencies within job position. Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Certification/Registration as a CMA or RMA through one of the national certifying organizations required. BLS/AED certification is required and must be maintained; demonstrated competency within 90 days required. Experience: Experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare facility preferred. Business Skills: Knowledge of basic organizational tasks and patient care management skills with demonstrated specialty competencies. Ability to recognize and report urgent patient care issues to attending and fellows. Adept at electronic medical record and proficient in computer skills, including Windows and MS Office. Other: Employees need to approach care as a team and help patients coordinate across all elements of the healthcare system. Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds.
