Job Summary: The Mechanical Inspector II is responsible for facilitating the part inspection process for our internal customers. Responsible for training of new Mechanical Inspectors on use of all gauges available in the Inspection Lab. Additionally, this role works cross-functionally to drive data collection, reporting, analysis and corrective action.

Essential Duties: Inspect samples:
Inspect samples per documented specifications;
Record inspection results;
Coordinate the flow of inspection samples based on priority;
Analyze data to determine trends in inspection history;
Perform inspections using mechanical gaging as required. Identification:
Identify appropriate gauging needed to measure engineering drawing requirements.
Visually identify inspection sample status.
Assist in cost reduction opportunities and design change suggestions. Addressing Non-Conformance:
Identify and contain nonconforming material
Create and communicate Nonconforming Material Reports
Identify Corrective Action Opportunities (CAR)
Identify and communicate Engineering Change Request (ECR) opportunities. Support department initiatives:
Support Gauge R&R studies
Support employee quality training programs and communications;
Support cross-functional team projects;
Identify quality improvements, cost reduction opportunities, and design change suggestions.

Minimal Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
3 years’ experience working in an inspection lab using standard measurement gauging or comparable manufacturing experience. Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree in related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Effective verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to train others and modify training to accommodate learning preferences;
Demonstrated ability to interpret drawing specifications;
Demonstrated use of GD&T principles;
Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite;
Experience using the following equipment: Caliper, Micrometer, Ring/Plug Gauge, Thread Gauge, Bore Gauge, Profilometer, Height Gauge, Pin Gauge, Hardness Tester, Durometer Gauge, Air Gauge, optical comparator and other gages as needed.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes. Temperatures can vary from cool to warm depending upon the season. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies
