Salary Information:

The salary for this position starts at a base salary of $41,574 annually.

About the Job:

As the Materials Manager, you will serve at the senior level of administration in Indiana Correctional Industries (ICI). You will act in an administrative, technical and supervisory role and all industries manufacturing operations at the institutional level which includes multiple operations in multiple correctional institutions throughout Indiana. This role reports to the Production Control Specialist at the ICI Central Office.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Review out of stock transactions to determine actions necessary to bring the inventory into line with product sales;
  • Monitor inventory movements/transactions and ensure minimum stock levels are achieved
  • Generated purchase requisitions to verify accuracy, terminology, specifications and consistency with stock levels, before proceeding to procurement department
  • Analyzes raw material usage, work force utilization, facility industry shop layout, and operational data to determine efficient utilization of offender workers and equipment
  • Develop and maintain sales and material usage projections for all products sold by ICI
  • Working with the engineering staff to develop labor standards and material usage for custom built, new and existing products
  • Communicates with sales, procurement, engineering staff, plant management, plant supervisors/foreman on procurement and production schedule problems
  • Offer creative ideas to cut costs, improve efficiency and quality control
  • Calculates safety stock requirements for all products sold by ICI
  • Develop and maintain a reporting system to include but not limited to: comparisons between product production and scheduled production, production offender workforce requirements compared to actual, material uasages focused on excessive waste, and safety stock requirments

What You'll Need for Success:
  • Two (2) years of experience in production scheduling and material requirement management, or product development or project management, or in procurement, procedure methods, or accredited college training in, Industrial Engineering, Material Management or Material Requirement Processes.
  • Knowledge of materials management and production/inventory control systems, material flow and storage or raw materials, work- in-progress materials and finished goods storage
  • Managerial abilities in a manufacturing business
  • Ability to effectively direct, train, supervise and coordinate the activities of the institutional staff
  • Effective communication skills both orally and written
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
