Job Description


About the Opportunity

The Manager of SEL Achievement will strategically support schools to foster healthy and safe environments for students to reach optimum achievement and wellness, serving as a thought partner, problem solver, and change agent to internal and external stakeholders with steadfast commitment to action.
This person will play a significant role in ensuring that our instructional vision is lived inside of our classrooms and schools by supporting school leadership teams with program implementation, instructional coaching, aligned data-analysis practices and aligned professional development opportunities in promotion of the integration of SEL practices within the school environment.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage the implementation of KIPP Texas’ Advisory model across PK-12:

    • Establish a community of educators through hosting weekly meetings and professional learning opportunities

    • Analyze network data in collaboration with the Regional Academic Leaders, School Leaders, and School Deans, to create schools based action plans

    • Know the data across the region and speak to the region-wide/campus level response to the data

    • Analyze portfolio data on a cycle, action plans, and communicate with appropriate individuals using data to drive decisions and actions at the campus and regional level

    • In collaboration with Regional Academic leaders, and school principals, identify opportunities to continue to refine and improve our current practices

  • Support faculty with teaching and leading Advisory model programming:

    • Work side-by-side to develop content knowledge and coaching skill of Assistant Principals of Instruction and/or Instructional Coaches

    • Observe classrooms regularly and provide clear, actionable feedThrough impact and influence, stimulates others to take action and accomplish goals, even when no direct reporting relationship exists.

    • Builds coalitions to garner support by aligning proposals/ideas with the needs and priorities of others.

    • Develops mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships based upon trust, respect, and achievement of common goals.

    • Gains the trust of key stakeholders by active listening and seeking to understand their views and needs.

    • back to the Assistant Principals of Instruction

    • Observe and/or facilitate content team meetings, as requested, and provide feedback that leads to improvement of the content team meetings

    • Model lessons from SEL programming or climate and culture advisory practices as needed

  • Forge, cultivate and maintain healthy relationships with multiple KTX teams:

    • Responsively follows-up and follows-through with students, families, and faculty members.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a mental health, counseling, social work or education field

  • Minimum 2 years exemplary teaching experience with strong student achievement results

  • Minimum 1 year exemplary coaching and professional development experience

Compensation and Benefits:

In addition to a competitive salary scale, a part of KIPP Texas’ competitive benefits options, KIPP offers all employees an $0 HMO plan for the employee only. In addition to our $0 plan, KIPP provides a $600 employer contribution towards a Health Savings Account and a variety of other supplemental benefits such as Dental, Vision, Short and Long-Term Disability, Pet Insurance, Life, etc.

Funding:

The Manager, SEL Achievement will be funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be funded solely (100%) from the ESSER II and III allocation for direct expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job description and signing their acknowledgement that this position is grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the grant period.
