Position Summary: SomaLogic is a privately-owned biomedical science company that developed a revolutionary proteomics technology capable of measuring thousands of different human proteins in a single small sample. We are now moving towards commercializing the health-related information derived from that technology to help people worldwide proactively manage their health for life. As a part of our commercialization effort, we are seeking additional expertise to join our dedicated team of scientists, bioinformaticians, statisticians, and software developers to help us realize that vision. The Production Bioinformatics Manager will oversee the research-oriented SomaScan® Platform data processing pipeline from raw signal through customer delivery. This is a leadership role that requires exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to variety of internal and external clients. A desire to interact with research scientists and strengthen client relationships is a must. This position will also work closely with other bioinformatics analysts, software system engineers, laboratory personnel, and project managers on a daily basis. Responsibilities include organizing and prioritizing client deliverables, running and advising on standard analysis methods for study data as it is generated by the service lab, applying quality assessment protocols, and follow-up with collaborators on data questions. Strong attention to details and deadlines is critical. Key Job Responsibilities Lead a team of analysts to deliver client data packages within established timelines Monitor and manage data flow for collaborator samples, providing regular feedback to project management Work closely with information system team members to recommend improvements on data pipeline and related infrastructure Continually work to establish or refine data processing SOPs Proactively engage with external clients to provide guidance on study design, data analysis strategies, and SomaLogic-specific best practices Manage tier 3 support for data-related customer inquiries Conduct and advise on routine analyses related to client data quality, service lab processes, and data standardization techniques Manage the maintenance and communication of reagent-level annotation and performance metrics Use internally developed and off the shelf tools to process collaborator data into standard results Apply standard quality assessment protocols to results generated and coordinate with laboratory personnel regarding assay quality and protocol deviations Participate in study planning calls with collaborators to discuss how their samples will be analyzed and provide recommendations based on documented best practices Participate in post-data-generation calls with collaborators to discuss their results Work with quality assurance, analytical chemistry, and quality control to design experiments and develop statistical models to maintain assay stability Aid in deployment of new analysis methods and quality metrics into production and in development of pipelines for analysis and reporting of assay outcomes Qualifications: Education Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field with 2+ years of experience Skills and experience 2 years experience minimum. 5+ years experience including people management desired. Must possess exquisite attention to detail, ability to establish standard operating procedures, and desire to improve operating procedures Background leading technical groups in an Agile framework is preferred Successful track record in a client-facing role for a scientific or technology company Ability to communicate clearly across diverse departmental groups and scientific subject domains Experience in one or more data analysis languages (Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) required Requires aptitude and desire for ongoing learning of new technical details related to bioinformatics, statistics, and biochemistry Experience with data quality assurance in a biotech setting is highly desirable Background in genomic or other “omics” data analysis is preferred Experience working with cloud or enterprise information system design is a plus Familiarity with modern SDLC and software engineering principals is a plus Experience using one or more databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Neo4j) is preferred Familiarity with Linux command line is a plus Work Environment: This position involves extended time at a computer, frequent informal meetings and discussions with project managers and other analysts, and frequent interactions with collaborators.
