Job Description Summary :The Manager, Patient Financial Services provides administrative and operational management of revenue cycle functions. The manager patient financial services for the Cash Services department is responsible for the oversight and daily management of the cash posting team. Works with internal and external customers to ensure efficient and effective management of the revenue cycle processes and accounts receivable. Manages the daily operations including all administrative and patient financial activities to ensure high quality health care financial services that comply with regulatory, billing and coding requirements. Works cooperatively with team members to generate optimal revenue for ThedaCare. Develops department initiatives that focus on employee engagement, process improvement, patient satisfaction, and workplace safety. Serves as a resource and facilitates collaboration between team members and other healthcare disciplines throughout ThedaCare and within the healthcare community.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Effectively manages team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.

2. Is accountable for daily activities and work processes that result in quality outcomes.

3. Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices.

4. Is accountable for day-to-day operations of the department through implementation of strategy, policy, and action plans.

5. Establishes department standards consistent with the healthcare industry.

6. Manages department systems to ensure accuracy of information including coordination with other departments.

7. Manages accounts receivable to ensure accurate balances, timely billing, and collections. 8. Maintains compliance with government and regulatory agency requirements.

9. Develops performance expectations, and coaches, evaluates, and motivates team members. Investigates complaints and performance concerns.

10. Is accountable for department hiring and performance management, payroll, and payroll practices to ensure alignment with ThedaCare philosophies and to ensure appropriate staffing to achieve outcomes.

11. Leads or implements ThedaCare initiatives, process improvements, and regulatory or policy changes through the work of team members by using effective change management principles to achieve high reliability outcomes.

12. Plans, directs, and coordinates the operations and fiscal health of the department to reduce costs and improve service.

13. Deploys business plan within areas of responsibility. Establishes and regularly reports on department/ThedaCare activities that contribute to strategic and/or operational initiatives. 14. Advises, consults, and serves as a member of the leadership team in the development and execution of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on division goals, acquisitions, strategic planning, and growth objectives.

15. Ensures team members are in compliance with ThedaCare and department policies, regulatory requirements, and laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, financial management, accounting, business administration, or related field
  • Five years of progressive responsibility in a healthcare setting
  • Three years of leadership experience to include leading teams and/or projects

Required Experience :

  • Consumer collection practices
  • Advanced accounting and cash management knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance and patient remittance posting, remittance management, and healthcare cash processes
  • Basic insurance knowledge
