Manager of Digital Content

Plays a key role in strategic storytelling and the development of content that promotes the institution’s mission and fundraising priorities.
This role produces content, manages production, and sources/creates dynamic visuals for fundraising and capital campaign purposes across all digital platforms; manages a variety of digital projects and grows the prospective donor audience in the digital space.
Working within the Development Communications team, this role will also establish synergies and further collaborations with the Digital Strategy, Marketing, and Social Media teams in the Communications and Public Affairs division of External Affairs.
Job Responsibilities- Sources editorial assets and identifies storytelling opportunities to promote institutional fundraising and capital campaign priorities.
- Researches, conceptualizes, pitches, writes, and edits sophisticated and engaging content for a variety of donor and alumni audiences across the spectrum of digital communications platforms.
- Maintains content on and functionality of Giving website and any associated microsites (e.g., campaign site), including editing copy, posting updates, and working with ITS web team, Development Communications colleagues, and external agencies.
- Sources images and manages digital assets to feature. Manages modifications and updates to existing pages and executes new pages/sites. Collaborates with internal/external partners for multimedia content, ie., video, graphics, and photography.
- Oversees technical execution of a variety of communications including e-newsletters, webinars, videos, etc. focused on fundraising/campaign. Manages production and post-production logistics.
- Drafts production documents, including technical configuration specs and logistics, for videos, webinars, livestreams, recordings and other communication modes. Prepares scripts, roles, budgets, run-of-show and other materials for online events.
- Optimizes content releases in support of institutional fundraising objectives; ideates video and other content to ensure a coherent, yet impactful, presence across all fundraising communication channels to grow audiences and engagement.
- Seeks opportunities to create, recycle, reuse, and reposition content based on target segments and timing; makes recommendations for content positioning to existing constituencies as well as address new or overlooked audiences.
- Ensures alignment of campaign/fundraising messaging and style across digital channels. Monitors performance of digital fundraising content, including social media, news stories, videos; helps guide content decisions using engagement analytics.
- Attends tapings, rehearsals, and live events, providing guidance and directional support to presenters, and aligning technical support, in order to provide professional and polished content.
- Develops robust and mutually supportive relationships with faculty and administrative leadership to stay abreast of ongoing work and its intersection with fundraising priorities. Enhances established collaborative relationships.
- Advises, counsels and assists the EA Events team to enhance the multimedia experience before, during, and after donor and alumni events.
- Supports the creation of a digital Weill Cornell Medicine magazine and provides on-going multimedia assets to supplement and foster the digital engagement.
- Hires and manages staff and other collaborators as needed, including production assistants or other related personnel, consultants, freelancers, agency partners, etc.
EducationExperienceAt least 5-7 years of hands-on experience producing digital content for large and complex organizations such as academic medical centers or universities.
Basic design and image editing experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Excellent writing, copy editing and proofreading skills. High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills; ability to meet deadlines, efficiently juggle multiple tasks, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities or demands.
- Demonstrated initiative and strong interpersonal and analytical skills. A self-starter with the ability to work independently and exercise sound editorial judgment to produce concise, polished, and accurate deliverables.
- Enthusiasm for a live production environment that may require agility and pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to develop relationships easily, and move freely across organizational boundaries; know-how to lead through influence.
