Position Summary:

This position facilitates carrier procurement and load management activities within Technicolor Global Logistics’ (TGL) brokerage operation, including management of the day-to-day operational interactions between TGL and its carrier partners for all surface transportation modes. Expected to ensure all freight is booked with reputable carriers that will provide a high level of service at market competitive rates. The Manager will provide day to day oversight and leadership of the Load Management team, inspiring, leading, proactively managing and developing the team to achieve departmental and individual goals.

The underlying mandate is to facilitate profitable growth and successful execution of TGL brokerage operations through effective carrier management and negotiation of market competitive transportation pricing.

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of brokerage freight moves, with focus on securing of competitively priced carrier capacity in support of TGL’s customer shipment needs.
  • Lead team of load managers, providing necessary oversight, guidance, training, and support to ensure ongoing talent development and departmental productivity.
  • Establish and maintain long-lasting, sustainable relationships with TGL’s carrier partners to better align company goals, customers’ goals, and the carriers’ goals in order to continue to provide the best options for TGL shippers
  • Facilitate the procurement of carrier capacity for ongoing business needs; including replacement carriers, seasonal surges, and spot-capacity requirements, to ensure support needs are met
  • Proactively work with TGL’s carrier partners to stay informed about their capacities, capabilities, needs and changes in their business that might affect TGL
  • Negotiate contract and spot pricing with carriers, including dedicated lane rates for LTL and Truckload freight services
  • Ensure TGL’s negotiation practices are ethical and fair, fostering a TGL market image of honesty and good corporate citizenship
  • Analyze current and future market trends and competitors to understand transportation and supply chain industry and adapt strategy to achieve competitive advantage
  • Interdepartmental collaboration: Support operational capacity needs, carrier pricing and capacity management issues, continuous improvement initiatives, and administration (contracting and compliance issues, etc.)
  • Proactively engage with priority accounts in conjunction with Sales and Account Management to evaluate needs, gaps and identify future actions to achieve and exceed overall account goals
  • Coach, motivate, train and develop employees; make decisions and recommendations regarding recruitment, advancement, salary administration, performance management, and employee relations
  • Monitor Carrier performance, develop KPIs, establish continual improvement processes and take corrective action as needed

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain or related field strongly preferred or commensurate education, training, and experience required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of industry related work experience required including transportation/logistics, negotiation of carrier pricing, operations, or supply chain services
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management level role
  • Transportation experience encompassing LTL, TL pricing and carrier management
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Project, and PowerPoint), web-based, and Windows based software

  • Deep understanding of carrier pricing strategies and negotiation tactics strongly preferred

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and smartphones.

The person in this position must operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine, printer, calculator; pull/retrieve/file documents in a filing cabinet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
