Major Functions The County of Volusia is seeking a Maintenance Worker I for the Parks, Recreation & Culture Division. This position is located at the NE Quad Park, and will be responsible for unskilled manual labor to include cleaning brush from park grounds and roadside, blowing and sweeping walks, removing refuse and paper from grounds, as well as, cutting and trimming lawns, bushes and trees. Clean and sanitizes restrooms, pavilions and park facilities. The preferred candidate, having met the minimum requirements, will have at least one (1) year of experience in maintaining a park, operating professional lawn maintenance equipment and facility maintenance experience. High School diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education (or training) and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Minimum Requirements
Possession of a valid Florida commercial driver's license (CDL), may be required, depending on location of position.
Possession of Public Health Pest Control certification within six (6) months of appointment may be required, depending on location of position. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Physical Demands: Able to see, talk, and hear. Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and machines. Peripheral vision. Able to pull, push, lift, carry 50 lbs, grasp, handle, climb, balance, reach overhead, bend, stoop. Able to traverse uneven, wet or broken terrain.
Environmental Demands: Generally outside work. Able to tolerate inclement weather including but not limited to heat, humidity, wind, cold. May require exposure to chemicals, dust, insects, noise, fumes and confined areas.
Mental Demands: Able to read and comprehend safety instructions, procedures, memos, and written directions. Able to write simple sentences relaying information. Able to perform basic math such as addition and subtraction.
