Maintenance Technician Team Lead - 3rd Shift

The Maintenance Technician Lead must have the ability to lead the work activities of maintenance technicians at the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. The maintenance Team Leader along with maintenance technicians will provide on-time completion for tasks including performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. The Maintenance Technician Leader is also responsible for scheduling and monitoring/ changing of the maintenance team members’ work schedules and performance according to the policies in the guidebook.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Follows written and/or verbal instructions from Supervisors.
- Monitors and maintains plant housekeeping and 5-S Standards.
- Enforces company policies and procedures.
- Functions as a technical leader for maintenance issues and resolutions.
- Trains maintenance technicians in all necessary functions as needed.
- Determines which associate can train other associates and schedule accordingly.
- Develops maintenance technician’s goals and holds technicians accountable to them at the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering manager.
- Assists in follow up for corrective actions with departments for long term solutions.
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
- Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
- Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
- Performs simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnoses problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Participates in payroll processes and Human Resource guidelines.
- Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detects faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Follows all aspects of Standardized Work Instructions.
- Operates equipment to highest production and quality standards.
- Performs preventive maintenance, tests, and inspections of systems and equipment through the utilization of applicable measurement devices, such as analyzers, load cells, LDT’s, decibel meters, anemometers, pyrometer, flow hoods, and volt-ohm meters as related to area of expertise.
- Performs all functions of Maintenance including inspecting equipment, buildings, and manually operating equipment on a minimum daily basis.
- Repairs, operates, and monitors systems and equipment such as Energy Management Systems and computers, automated assembly lines, robots, high pressure boilers, large commercial air conditioning systems including centrifugal and screw chillers, refrigeration, pneumatics, etc.
- Participates in the resolution of manufacturing difficulties.
- Troubleshoots equipment, determining type and extent of malfunction of PLC programs, system faults, parts or components, obtaining materials and tools, making required repairs, and testing for proper operation.
- Maintains routine records of equipment inspections, repairs performed requests for service, time and material expended.

Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of high school diploma or GED required; Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience. Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred
- Completion of technical training in Machining or Mechanics is preferred.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must be able to follow purchasing processes and controls.
- Strong organization skills are required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
- Ability to work with all people at all levels of the organization.
- Strong and positive team building skills are required.
- Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment.
- Licensed to operate forklift if applicable.
- Requires controls/PLC programming and ladder logic. Allen-Bradley experience required, Siemens preferred. Familiarity with PC and PLC based machine control systems, data acquisition, force-distance monitoring systems, Kuka/Fanuc robots, machine tool controls desired.
- At least 5 years of manufacturing experience is required; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC. Vacuum furnace experience is preferred.
- At least 2 years of related experience in packing machines/production machines is required
- Blueprint reading required.
- Demonstrates analytical ability necessary to perform calculations, interpret data from blueprints and manuals, diagnose problems with equipment and solve problems.
- PC Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Statistical evaluation software familiarity a plus.
- Attendance on the job is essential.
