The Maintenance Mechanic (Welding) is located in Facilities Management Service at the Seattle Division of VA Puget Sound, Veteran Affairs Health Care System; under direct supervision of the Supervisor (Operations Unit), from whom he receives instructions and guidance on the more complex assignments; works independently within the framework of existing codes/manuals and VA regulations and follows Engineering Preventive Maintenance Program, Engineering work orders and oral assignments. Physical Requirements: The duties of the incumbent require considerable movement around the Medical Center. The work involves bending, lifting, working from ladders and scaffolds and crawling through subbasements and ceiling spaces. He must frequently lift equipment or materials weighing 100 pounds or more.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
