Description: Pay range: $17.00-$30 hourly
Schedule: Weekend Day shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Work 36hrs and get paid for 40hrs.)
Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision builds and machines parts from a blue print using a variety of manual and CNC machines. A journeyman machinist.
Essential Functions:
- Set up and take down of projects
- Machine parts under minimal supervision
- Good knowledge of shop tools and machines
- Safely operate overhead crane
- Able to read blue prints

Essential Physical Functions:
- Requires lifting of at least 50lbs, stooping, bending and stretching to accomplish assigned duties.

Availability:

Working Conditions:
Works in typical machine shop surrounding. Occasionally called upon to work overtime. Working conditions may vary according to weather: however, the machine shop is a climate-controlled area.

. Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Blue Print Skills:
- Must be able to find most problems on drawings.
- Must be able to read and understand all blue prints.
Math Skills:
- Must have advanced trigonometry skills to solve most shop problems.
Tolerance:
- Must be able to hold +-.005 (machine permitting.)
- Must be able to hold +- .010 true position.
- Must be able to hold .001 perpendicularly (machine permitting.)
- Must be able to hold +- 10 min. angularity tolerance.
Machines:
- Must be able to run 95% of all the machines.
- Must be able to do own set-ups.
- Must know how to do basic repairs.
- If operating CNC must have and show basic programming skills.
General:
- Must be able to work without supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
- Must be willing to teach and train.
- Must perform machining tasks and production rates comparable to PETERSEN's top producing machinists.
- Must know how to use speeds and feeds to extend tool life.
Minimum Requirements:
Either: 1) one year of technical schooling in advanced machine shop and three years hands-on experience, OR 2) Six years working as machinist.
