Controlling machines and processes by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Instrument’s should include but limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.
Machine parts to specification using tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
Set-up, adjust and operate all basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts.
Inspecting hardware or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems/defects.
Able to analyze information, evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Assessing the value, importance, quality of parts material and or processes.
Stay up-to-date on technology and applying new knowledge to your job.
Program numerically controlled machine tool or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate quality products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machining work.
Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
Confer with Sr Machinist regularly ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly and output will meet specifications.
Perform in-process inspection using standard measurement equipment.
Accurately complete process paperwork, as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
8-10 years of machining experience.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Handling, installing, positioning, moving/manipulating materials.
Performing physical activities that require frequent activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
