To operate machinery in a manner that maximizes production and efficiency.

Purpose: To operate machinery in a manner that maximizes production and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Must complete all paperwork related to the job.
  • Lock out equipment before set up.
  • Inspect equipment during set up following product specification.
  • Report abnormalities to Supervisor.
  • All packaging materials must comply with product specifications and quality standards.
  • Carefully seal all packing materials to protect them from contaminants.
  • Return packaging to designated storage area.
  • Lock out equipment before disassembling.
  • Responsible for dry pick up.

Working Conditions:

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.

Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments.

Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.

Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.

Knowledge:

  • To strive to meet all daily ship schedules.
  • Know metal detector policy and proper handling of product.
  • To keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Know and understand how to keep area clean.
  • To have an up to date inventory of packing supplies.
  • Have knowledge of sanitation procedures.
  • Be willing to rotate jobs.
  • Know and understand good manufacturing practices.
  • Know and understand safety guidelines.
  • Know and understand lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Other jobs as assigned.

Education and Work Experience: High school education or equivalent preferred. Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team effort.
