ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine is one of the largest and most diverse departments in the College of Medicine. The mission of the Department is to rank among the elite in the nation in the areas of education, research and patient care. The Department provides education and training for a diverse group of medical students, residents, fellows and allied health personnel from USF and throughout the world. The Departments research activities are numerous and involve both basic and clinical research activities in all subspecialties of Internal Medicine. Patient care occurs in our affiliated hospitals (Tampa General Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute and the James A. Haley VA Hospital) as well as state-of-the-art ambulatory health care centers. The Department also provides healthcare support and services via contractual arrangements with many diverse organizations. The Departments faculty represent a group of dedicated physicians well-recognized as leaders in all three of our mission areas. The all source budget for the current fiscal year is in excess of $43 million dollars.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position serves as the Lung Transplant Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. This position coordinates the management of adult Lung, Heart-Lung post-transplant patients, donors, Cystic Fibrosis patients, and Interstitial Lung Disease patients. Responsibility begins prior to transplant for all advanced lung disease patients and continues throughout the life of the transplanted Lung, Heart-Lung. Tasks include reviewing patient records; scheduling procedures; calling patients with laboratory and test results and medication changes; providing education to patients, family members and significant others regarding pre- and post-transplantation issues; participation in Cystic Fibrosis, Interstitial Lung Disease, and pre-/post-transplant clinic.
