SUMMARY
We are seeking an outgoing, proactive, organized, and effective systems engineer to manage payload integration for our lunar lander. This person must have systems, integration, test, and launch experience, specific to aerospace hardware. We also need this person to have the communication and relationship skills required to interface with all engineering disciplines at Firefly involved in the development of a lunar lander and with outside organizations like the FAA, USAF, NASA, and 30th & 45th Space Wings.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the primary engineering and programmatic interface between the Firefly engineering teams and NASA or other lunar payload customers.
  • Manage the development and coordination of the key mission performance and interface requirements and document it all in an Interface control Document (ICD) for interfaces between the customer payload and spacecraft.
  • Comprehend and manage technical issues related to form, fit, and function of the payload(s), loads, dynamic environments, thermal, EMI/EMC, contamination, mass properties, mechanical interface, electrical interface, and operations.
  • Planning and management of hardware-related activities including fit checks, spacecraft integration, spacecraft acceptance testing, launch, and the full duration lunar mission.
  • Domestic and international travel for technical interchange meetings and design reviews with NASA, IAI (Israel), and other customers.
  • Work closely with each engineering discipline within Firefly and IAI to help generate and evaluate acceptable analysis factors of safety and test plans that meet both Range requirements and Mission Assurance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required

  • Bachelors’ degree in aerospace engineering or related field.
  • Desire to work with International organizations with international travel
  • Experience integrating spacecraft.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience working as the primary interface with an aerospace customer.
  • Basic working knowledge of aerospace qualification and acceptance testing defined by SMC-S-016 or MIL-STD-1540
  • Basic working knowledge of AFSPCMAN-91-710, MIL-STD-882, RCC-319-14 and NASA Standards 8719.13.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral). Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings to peers, management, and external customers.

Desired

  • Experience integrating payloads onto spacecraft or spacecraft to launch vehicles.
  • Experience with deployment mechanisms or with robotics and actuators for spacecraft.
  • Experience working with foreign vendors with extensive international travel ( >3 international trips per year)
