UPMC Hamot, a Magnet designated facility located in Erie, PA, is currently hiring a casual LPN w/ Meds & IVs to support 4 South.
Provide overall quality nursing care administered to assigned patients on the designated shift. Under the direction of a Professional Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse with Meds and IV's is expected to use initiative, basic problem solving skills and exercise some judgment in the practice of nursing to administer medication and peripheral IV's as appropriate.
The 4 South Unit is a 23-bed Trauma and Orthopedics unit. This medical-surgical unit is a great place for nurses to care for a variety of patients with different medical needs. The team provides nursing care to the trauma population (patients involved in motor vehicle accidents, gunshot, stabbing and assault victims, fall injuries, etc.), and patients with bone injuries, infections, deformities due to trauma. This is a great unit for nurses to learn a variety of skills and quickly build on their knowledge base. Our team also focuses on collaboration with our attending providers to enhance patient outcomes and the patient experience.

Qualifications
- Completion of approved Practical Nursing program or equivalent.
- New graduate or current experience as LPN with Meds/IVs in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- This position typically reports to the Nursing Director
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Certified in medication administration and intravenous administration. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
NIH within 6 months, ACLS within 1 year
