The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the actualization of the vision philosophy and critical success factors of the Department of Nursing. He/She is committed to maintaining the standards of the practice of nursing and is responsible for the delivery of care to the neonate, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and / or elderly patients within their scope of practice. He/she participates in performance improvement, research activities and maintains clinical expertise.

As an LPN at Montefiore Medical Group Bronx East, you will be expected to cross cover in both pediatrics and internal medicine areas. As the LPN you will perform patient vitals and blood pressure checks. As well as provide patient-specific education, medication, and treatment administration, respond to patient calls and emails. Additionally, you will provide outreach to specialty offices at the direction of physicians and obtain prior authorization for medication from insurances. The LPN will also be responsible for follow-ups with patient pharmacy on medication requests and/or problems and completion of patient age-specific screeners. The LPN would also be expected to perform point of care testing as directed by a physician. The ideal candidate would be Bengali or Spanish speaking. The LPN will also be expected to have excellent customer services skills and maintain a smile at all times.

Education/skills:

• High School Minimum
• New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York State.
• BLS; Infection Control certification
• Effective English communication skills, both written, oral and interpersonal.
• Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system.
• Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations.
