Logistics Manager

Main Focus
This function is responsible for providing logistics management of all outgoing goods to the customers in a cost-effective way while remaining EHS and legally compliant.
Accountabilities
- Management and strategic development of distribution network for sites in USA and Canada with focus on efficiency, safety, environmental protection, and quality
- Distribution of cost management and optimization of logistics solutions
- Develop a competent and well-trained staff within the logistics and shipping & receiving departments
- Logistics Project Management and Capital Planning
- Regional customer satisfaction (OTIF, lead-time, complaints handling, other logistics KPIs)
- Compliance with global trade guidelines
Responsibilities
- Logistics planning; short and long-term planning of transport- and storage capacities including external logistics warehouses and tollers
- Safe and environmentally sound operation of logistics facilities
- Continuous supervision of logistics operations on sites
- Counter measurements in case of target/actual deviations in logistics, processes and in case of technical defects
- Ensure logistics cost controlling and deviation assessment
- Ensure legal compliance for handling of dangerous goods (DOT, IMDG, WHMIS)
- Budget responsibilities for fixed and variable costs
- Provide continuous optimization of logistical processes and root-cause examinations for improvements in on-time deliveries and cost efficiency
- Management of all logistics and S&R equipment. This includes transport equipment, tankers, trailers/reefers, forklift trucks, yard trucks, and returnable packaging
- Management of bulk container, IBC, and canister cleaning activity
- Management of logistic service contractors (selection, contracting …)
- Planning, controlling, organization and supervision of warehouses. Distribution of products from logistics warehouses to customers and intercompany transfers
- Complete oversight of transportation management system including implementation activities, daily operations, optimization, and maintenance
- Expected to learn basic business process flows including forecast to fulfillment and understand products sold for distribution purposes
- Responsible for ERAP maintenance and renewal
- Responsible for intercompany assistance as assigned regarding import and export
- Support ISO 9001, 14001, and Responsible Care Programs
Requirements
- Bachelor´s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related degree
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial logistic environment
- TMS experience required (specifically in implementation and management)
- ASCM, CPIM certification a plus
- Hazmat experience preferred
- Import/Export Experience preferred
- Project management preferred
- ERP-Systems (SAP) preferred
- National Motor Freight Classification familiarity
- Negotiation skills
- Interpersonal and leadership qualities
- Must be able to communicate across multiple levels of management and with staff
- Computer applications and MS Office
- Specific legal regulations & standards
- Ability to work in a standard office setting including sitting, standing, bending, walking, computer operations and light lifting. Ability to work in plant settings including to maneuver in certain plant areas, to manipulate various instruments for the purposes of inspection or adjustment and for analysis of good
