Logistics Coordinator

Logistics CoordinatorThis position is responsible for maintaining and improving the operational departmental processes, both on the fleet side and the brokerage operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Brokerage Operation- Source all carriers for PFS third-party shipments and maintain tracking from pickup through delivery
- Maintain the brokerage operation, including:
- Develop new customers
- Prospect shippers and receivers on a local and national level
- Facilitate a unique supply chain solution to each customer
- Set up new customers
- Establish pricing
- Schedule appointments
- Source and set up each carrier
- Track carrier’s transit
- Process carrier’s invoice and create customer invoices
- Develop a network of carriers and keep their information current
- Monitor multiple load boards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Fleet Operation- Set up weekly driver routing schedules.
- Receive customer orders
- Schedule necessary appointments
- Communicate schedules with drivers
- Follow the schedules through and assist with any necessary scheduling changes.
- Assist with the following:
- Analyze available loads and routes to maximize efficiency and profitability of the department
- Monitor multiple load boards
- Monitor ELD tracking software
- Verbally dispatch drivers and field their calls
- Call drivers daily to get position updates and progress on loads
- Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in or directly relevant to logistics activity
- Stay informed of logistics technology advances and apply appropriate technology in order to improve logistics processes
- Develop an understanding of customers' needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met
- Research materials and assist with quarterly Driver Safety and Training Meetings
- Assist in truck maintenance. Schedule routing service and major repairs, minor truck repairs, monthly reefer inspections, and monthly truck inspections as needed
- Maintain current knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Perform weekend trailer watch as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working with 3rd Party Freight Carriers/Brokers. A combination of sales and operations experience is preferred
- Know DOT rules and regulations
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Minimum Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Word
- Familiarity with DAT 360 and Internet Truckstop is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS- Most work is typically performed in normal office conditions
- Ability to travel overnight as required
