Position Overview
This position will be the logistics and materials support for Proterra’s Validation Engineering group. This position will report directly to the Director of Test and Validation and other site leadership team members. As the Logistics and Materials Specialist, you will be responsible for coordination of all logistical support needs for the validation team activities, sourcing and validation parts procurement. Additional rolls will be the coordination with Proterra Operations – Warehouse team with the transaction of materials between the Proterra parts warehouse location and the validation center.
About the Role – You will:
- Maintain and uphold high safety standards and acceptable performance standards under minimal supervision.
- Coordination with the Director of Validation in prioritization of tasks.
- Ensure that logistics coordination internal and externally are timely for the success of validation activities.
- Be the primary person supporting the validation team in parts and materials sourcing and procurement. Materials sourcing includes but not limited to internal parts, R&D materials, data acquisition equipment, facilities equipment and materials
- Assist with the coordination of facilities and equipment repairs and general team and facilities support.
- Coordination of materials movement from within the Proterra warehouse network.
- Coordination of logistics for movement of material, test articles, and vehicle supporting offsite tests.
- Ensuring all transactions are properly documented and processed in timely manners
- As with all validation team members when other team members are in need of help, we all jump in and assist even if outside of our standard operating roles. Support could include, ballasting movement, general clean up, validation vehicle mileage accumulations, and general team support.
- Have a DOT Medical card or ability to procure one to facilitate driving company vehicle.
- Have or willing to become a certified forklift operator.
- Be trained in the operation of the Proterra test vehicles
- Be trained in the safe loading and unloading of vehicles on and off transportation vehicles.
- Maybe utilized as a delegate for the validation team in materials meetings as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- This position will be part of the Greenville based Validation and Test team that supports all aspects of Proterra Engineering, Customer Service, Marketing and Manufacturing teams.

Your Experience Includes:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 5 years of materials and logistics work
- Experience with warehouse materials transactions and materials movement
- Experience with purchasing processes from request to PO generation and receiving
- Good verbal and written skills for coordination between other groups in the enterprize.
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Experience with coordinating with multiple concurrent projects and tasks across multiple groups
- Physical Demands:
- May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
- Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
- Environmental Demands:
- Ability to work in multiple test and manufacturing environments with extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Safe operation of materials handling equipment
- Experience with the proper preparation of materials for shipping.
