Description Under the direction of the Lead Lifeguard, teach swim lessons, lifeguard and perform public safety work in preventing injuries in the municipal pool facility. - Perform a variety of duties including constant observance of patrons, enforcement of safety rules and regulations, administration of first aid and/or artificial resuscitation and teaching swim lessons
- Responsible for completion of pool deck work (i.e., cleaning decks, gutters, guardhouse, diving boards, vacuuming, etc.)
- Assist in conducting special swimming activities
- Handle all patron and pool problems in an efficient, timely and proper manner according to established procedures
- Function as part of a crew within an emergency plan for the handling of accidents in pool areas
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications- American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED Certifications
Preferred- High School diploma or GED
- Three (3) months (one season) experience teaching swim lessons
Criteria/Conditions- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
