Assist Life Enrichment Specialist(s) with participating, developing, maintaining, and implementing resident group activities. Ensure and promote ongoing social and physical stimulation, spiritual, cultural and intellectual needs of our residents. Assist with supervision and maintaining resident safety. Able to enhance resident Life Enrichment experience, and maintain clean environment. Promotes resident well-being and satisfaction. Communicates with other departments to ensure resident needs are met. Flexibility in schedule to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
II. CUSTOMER/CLIENTS SERVED BY POSITION:
Residents, resident family and guests, department managers, supervisors, support staff, outside vendors and state and federal regulators and volunteers.
III. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and two years of related work experience acceptable. Some course work in Activities for geriatric population desirable to include Activity Director’s Certification.
IV. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum one (1) year in Life Enrichment program for Alzheimer, senior center, hospital, retirement living, or hotel setting preferred. Basic knowledge of a variety of activities. Exhibit the ability to give instruction to others.
V. SPECIAL SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATION AND /OR SPECIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Must be friendly, diplomatic to all staff members, families, volunteers and community organizations, especially cooperative with staff who provide direct care. Willingness and aptitude for working with a variety of people, at all levels and ages. Have basic understanding of the needs of the ill elderly and have an empathetic approach to illness. Able to pass pre-employment TB exam and physical and obtain fingerprint clearance according to our licenser. Computer literate in multiple software. First Aid Certification, Class C mandatory & B license (desirable), Food Handlers course.

IN GENERAL
1. Leads and participates in individual and group activities as directed by Director of LE and Lead in that program.
2. Will assist in planning and organizing in the Life Enrichment.
3. Provides and leads individual and group activities in the evenings & weekends.
4. Will assist as needed with paper-work, attendance sheets, room and food requests and documentation of resident’s plan of care.
5. Maintains the Life Enrichment bulletin and electronic boards.
6. Recognize abnormal signs and symptoms which signify a physical change in resident’s condition that would require nursing intervention.
7. Drives facility vehicles as necessary.
8. Is responsible for transportation and escorting of residents to and from one area to designated area within the facility where activities occur.
9. Is responsible to assist residents on outings.
10. Participates in the in-service program of the facility.
11. Practice non-judgmental, unconditional acceptance of our residents.
12. Be warm, kind, and maintain a cheerful, friendly and positive attitude.
13. Use patience and SV approved techniques to deal with and communicate with our residents.
14. Encourage residents to make choices for self, learn new skills and maintain former interests so

16. Meet, escort and greet volunteers and performers.
16. Report observations of residents and their needs to the Director of GRC/Campus LE, LE Specialists,
and/or the Directors.
17. Help serve and/or clean up after events.
18. Cue, accompany and/or assist residents when needed with personal hygiene.
19. Welcome families and caregivers warmly and help make transition times as easy as possible.
20. Be flexible and responsible to the various needs of our residents and their families.
21. Encourage social exchange with staff and other residents.
22. Set-up and assist in various group activities.
23. Assist residents from chairs, scooters, walkers or wheelchairs.
24. Assist Director of GRC/Campus LE and/or LE Specialists d in creating and planning activities.
25. Builds Community: Understands and embraces the role of volunteers; helps members and
participants make connections to others and to SV; practices effective relationship-building
techniques. Works with the Volunteer coordinator to enhance the volunteer program, including
the training of new volunteers and the scheduling of volunteers. Assists with the annual
recognition event for volunteers.
26. Assists with and help with yearbook and gift shop, shopping and restock.
MEMORY CARE AND SKILLED NURSING
1. Will assist as needed with paper work, attendance sheets, food requests and documentation of resident’s plan of care.

3. Is responsible for transportation of residents to and from one area to designated area within the facility where activities occur.

3. Participates in the in-service programs of the facility and dementia training to include but not limited to:
SKILLED NURSING SPECIFIC
1. Assists in documentation as needed for individual Life Enrichment program using the appropriate assessment forms, completing the life enrichment plan within 7 (seven) working days of admission. Completes MDS portion of documentation, attends scheduled care plans with IDT Team.
2. Maintains timely progress notes specific to the residents activity plan, recording at least quarterly in the medical record and more frequently when appropriate.
3. Attends stand-up meetings with IDT Team as needed; as it relates to need of resident re: activities.
4. Attends Family Care Conferences as needed; as it relates to need of resident re: activities.
Factors affecting work performance - attendance, dependability, achievement, interpersonal skills

2. Regular, punctual attendance. Flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and some holidays.
3. Perform various other tasks as needed in the department as required by the Life Enrichment Program Coordinator.

Mission, Vision and Policy Requirements - SV philosophy, adherence to policy, judgment
1. Familiarize self with and follow Seacrest Village policy and procedures and the same wiith the Jewish tradition as it relates to our residents, family and guests.
2. Observes and follows safety policies; to include but not limited to reporting all work related injuries
timely, wearing appropriate safety equipment and security access/name badge.
3. Wear appropriate clothing per facility and Life Enrichment uniform policy.
4. Follow timekeeping policy by utilizing timeclock to report all hours worked and take all mandatory rest and meal breaks (by the fifth hour of work unless six hours completes the day).
5. As a matter of SV policy and federal and state law; attends HIPAA training, follows HIPAA confidentiality and privacy policy, applies “minimum necessary”, “needs to know” guidelines on all PHI information and reports non-compliance violations to Privacy Officer.
6. As a mandated reporter per DOJ requirements; attends Mandated Reporter Abuse training meetings, will report all abuse incidents; physical, emotional, financial, sexual, verbal, completing the 1) SOC 341 form, mailing or faxing, 2) calling the ombudsmen and/or department of health services; for Assisted Living and Independent Living, call ombudsmen, and APS (adult protective services), and 3) informing supervisor so resident can be protected.
7. Follow the corporate compliance standard and employee code of conduct, of performing work with an ethical behavior and utilizing proper business conduct and professional practice, that complies with applicable laws, rules and regulations; as serving the residents, preserving the organizational reputation, maintaining resident/employee trust, community respect. Reports non-compliance or concerns to Corporate Compliance Officer.
VII. OUTCOME WHEN JOB IS DONE WELL:
Residents needs are met, documentation is accurate and the annual survey is successful.
VIII. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Wheelchair, walker, SV vehicle for transportation, Life Enrichment equipment, TV, DVD, Boom box, computer,
printer, copier,VCR, slide projector, fax machine, phone, Electronic TV Board.
IX. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires ability to stand on feet for several hours at a time during the workday. Excellent vision and hearing. Good verbal and written communication possesses good command of the English language. Able to coordinate room setup, serve and clean. Able to push/pull up to 125lbs in wheelchair, and lift up to 25lbs and move 25lbs unassisted.
