Number of Positions: 1 Duties: Responsible for overall operation and maintenance of library services and facility. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff. Manage all aspects of branch staffing including hiring and training new staff, mentoring, conducting staff meetings, approving time off, ensuring accuracy of staff time, and all related tasks. Develop a professional and service-oriented culture. Conduct regular staff evaluation. Monitor performance and apply progressive discipline as necessary. Work with staff to meet standards set by CPL service departments. Uphold and interpret library use guidelines, procedure and policy for patrons and staff. Provide direct customer and reference service to library patrons, assisting with information questions, readers' advisory, computer assistance and circulation needs. Assist and monitor library staff to provide same level of services. Address patron concerns, resolving issues in a timely and courteous manner. Select materials and maintain a collection designed to meet the needs of the intended audience. Develop outreach and program plans and oversee, prepare and conduct implementation for the community in conjunction with other staff. Market collections, programs, and services. Represent library at community, civic and other meetings to ensure library services are meeting the needs of the community. Responsible for oversight of circulation functions, such as holds, materials processing, maintenance of patron records, and shelving. Responsible for, or supervises preparation of, monthly and annual reports, annual budget, statistical reports, and documents. Operate PCs to access Internet, databases, word processing, and office software. Support and promote new technologies. Ability to use various technologies and informational databases and to train others to the same level. Oversee the daily image of the branch including maintaining attractive displays, keeping the facility tidy, and identifying any areas in need of repair or improvement. Coordinate and follow-up with building maintenance, security, and custodial issues. Actively participate in recruitment efforts and promotion of library career paths. Keep up on trends in public libraries through professional resources related to library service. Participate or provide leadership in library committee work. Maintain professional development through meetings, workshops, training courses, and committees. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited American Library Association college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science or an approved foreign credential evaluation supplemented by three years of progressively responsible professional library experience including one year of supervisory experience.
