Class DefinitionAbout the Office: The Office of the Attorney General is headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, with satellite offices in Warwick, Newport and South Kingstown, Rhode Island. The Attorney General is Rhode Island’s chief law enforcement official, responsible for the prosecution of all felonies and many misdemeanor offenses throughout the state.Illustrative Examples of Work PerformedResponsibilities and Opportunity Offered: The office is seeking an Administrative Assistant that will be responsible for paralegal/secretarial duties and offer assistance to the Civil Division and its attorneys. Primary responsibilities include preparation of legal documents and correspondence, entering data for case tracking programs, electronic filing with the Courts, preparing and maintaining case files, assisting with incoming mail and telephone calls and other related duties, as instructed. The position offers a unique and challenging experience for a highly motivated person.Required Qualifications for AppointmentEducation/Qualifications: Applicants must possess superior clerical and organizational skills, as well as the capacity to function at a high level in a demanding environment. Experience may have been gained through employment in a responsible legal assistant position or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent. Additionally, applicants must exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other support staff, attorneys, state agencies and members of the public. Candidates must be computer literate and adept at learning new computer programs. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience working as a team member and will have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Odyssey Court Filing System, Power Point, Adobe Pro DC and Dropbox.
