What you will do:

The Learning Technology Specialist is responsible for driving the successful adoption and integration of technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences. As a part of a highly collaborative team, the Learning Technology Specialist will research, plan, manage, and evaluate projects and productions, and provide training and technical support related to the use of learning technologies in blended and online modalities. The Learning Technology Specialist will also lead special projects involving learning and development, technology, and media as required.



Outcomes:
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical support to faculty related to selection of, implementation, and evaluation of learning technologies
  • Design, develop, and produce media elements for courses and other projects; advise on production issues, including content acquisition, multimedia authoring, animation, graphics, video, and audio
  • Develop as a thought leader in learning technologies at NLU and in the higher education community; promote an environment of innovation, curiosity, and engagement
  • Design, produce, and maintain resources for faculty on using technology to support NLU’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

Your Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design or interaction design, user experience design, educational technology, or closely related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of demonstrated success using and/or implementing learning technology solutions; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity
  • Working knowledge of theories of adult learning and motivation as they relate to the use of technology and awareness and understanding of emerging technology trends that will potentially disrupt education and the technologies that will influence these trends
  • Experience leveraging tools in a Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace) to provide diverse content options, support peer collaboration, and create flexible learning pathways
  • Fluency in building and maintaining courses in a Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace)
  • Demonstrated experience using media production and authoring tools is preferred
  • Ability to create and follow through on a project plan with attention to detail and deadlines; experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders in a dynamic environment is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills. Uses good judgment as to what to communicate to whom as well as the best way to get that accomplished. Speaks in a clear and credible manner, selecting the right tone for the situation and audience. Listens to others and allows them to make their point
  • Looks out for new and innovative approaches that will improve efficiency
  • Proactively works to anticipate and solve problems
  • Effective time and project management skills. Understands how to prioritize tasks and effectively communicates and looks to resolve roadblocks to project completion
