Job Description SummaryLeads and performs physical and/or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Responsible for the in-house execution of cycle counting. Checks goods received and for distribution against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of goods and rejects unsatisfactory items. Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges. Must have forklift certification. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in inventory warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing lines. Oversees domestic and non-domestic receiving and shipping responsibilities. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with material/warehouse operations. Provides additional leadership support as needed and escalates team issues as necessary.

Job Description
  • Performs administrative and physical tasks involved in shipping, receiving, storing, staging and supplying materials (raw, work-in-process and finished goods), parts and supplies, to operators, workstations and distribution center
  • May prepare goods for shipment to the distribution center
  • Complete all necessary SAP Training to obtain the necessary profiles
  • May be responsible for ordering required materials from outside vendors and offload all deliveries from outside vendors and do goods receipts for the deliveries
  • Physically locate the materials in the warehouse and then perform transactions in SAP to locate them in the system
  • Do bin to bin transfers for all moves from the warehouse to the PSA’s
  • Hand load carts/racks equipment and deliver to production areas
  • Run Material Staging in SAP
  • Evaluate all production schedules and determine materials needed from outside vendors
  • Maintain required levels of materials in the various PSA’s
  • Is knowledgeable of receiving and/or distribution functions, familiar with computer warehousing system and may be required to use UPS systems
  • May be responsible for conducting cycle counts to maintain accurate inventories
  • Uses judgment requiring location and storage of items, proper packaging, methods of movement of materials, and release of materials
  • May be responsible for training associates towards fork truck certification.
  • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Assists in planning and controlling the timing of operations
  • Provides support to the supervisor when necessary
  • Provides training support for on-boarding and/or new procedures
  • Provides support on special projects
  • Provides coaching to associates on day-to-day activities and performance
  • Provides continuous improvement recommendations and/or solutions to support overall operational efficiency
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High school with 6 years’ experience with minimum 1 year forklift operations
  • 1 year SAP preferred
  • Previous work experience with the use of material handling equipment (pallet jacket, forklift, shrink wrapper)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Forklift Certification required
  • Certification in Dangerous Goods (DG), including IATA, DOT DG, or IMDG preferred

Basic Skills:

  • Ability to work on assignments that are manual and routine in nature with the skill to recognize any deviations from specification
  • Can effectively work in a team setting and communicate effectively across the department
  • Must be able to maintain neat, accurate and complete records and logs, both manually and/or electronically on a personal computer
  • Must be able to effectively manage frequent assignment changes

Proficient/Working Skills:

  • Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic
  • Basic proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of Windows environment is required
  • Use independent judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Must be able to work in a repetitive work environment and be able to stand for long periods of time
