Position SummaryWe’re looking for a seasoned designer to create a friendly and engaging experience for clinicians and patients across multiple platforms. You will be collaborating with Product Management, Marketing, Engineering and many other teams at Karius as part of developing and maintaining a strong design language that ensures consistency across many service and product touchpoints. You will also be a founding member of the Karius Experience Design Team and responsible for helping build an awesome culture of design at Karius.

Reports to: Head of User Experience
Location: Redwood City, CA or Remote
Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and other teams at Karius to develop and deepen knowledge of customer journeys and key customer segments.
• Own the design of products & services for web, tablets, mobile devices, and print.
• Design the experience for ordering, reporting, customer engagement, hospital integrations, and additional emerging opportunities.
• Produce designs at varying levels of fidelity for internal stakeholders and for testing with customers, owning the feedback and iterative process for designs.
• Ensure that Karius’s digital experiences meet business and usability goals.
• Represent and advocate for our clinicians and patients throughout your work.
• Align design work with regulatory requirements.
• Help scale the Karius Design Team.

Travel: Required up to 5%.
Physical RequirementsSubject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office environment.
Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Human Factors, Fine Arts, Design, Behavioral Science or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience across UX / UI design, interaction design, or visual design for digital products.
• Experience working with product management, user research, and engineering on digital products.
• Experience with iterating on designs based on user research.
• Fluent across design methods such as: journey mapping, sprints/workshops, personas, wireframing, high fidelity design, prototyping, sketching.
• Use design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision for static mocks & click through prototypes

Excellent presentation skills, especially presenting recommendations and design decisions to stakeholders. Comfortable educating stakeholders on design best practices.

• Work cross-functionally with a variety of teams and departments.
• Demonstrate & build empathy for customers.
• Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and prioritize effectively.

Project management skills: ability to organize multiple projects, proactively plan, adhere to timelines. Demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving.
Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with healthcare, public health, fitness/wellness, or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with AI & machine learning
• Curiosity & passion for having an impact on patient’s lives.
• Experience with service design, motion design, visual design, or other adjacent areas of design.
• Comfort with participating in the user research process & evaluating designs
