St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is anticipating a need for a Lead Software Developer in the coming months to build innovative high-performance image data management and visualization software systems in support of its basic research programs. The successful candidate is communicative and passionate about software architectures at the interface between image data science and software engineering; with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: full-stack software development, scientific data management, machine learning, large-scale scientific data analysis, computer graphics, NoSQL databases, and GPU and High Performance Computing (HPC) technology. The successful candidate will work with, and further shape, a growing dynamic team with Dr. Khaled Khairy in St. Jude’s new Center for Bioimage Informatics. Experience in image processing, computer vision, and game development is a plus.

The position is an opportunity to design and implement high-quality innovative open-source software systems that advance this basic research enterprise at the bleeding edge. Examples of projects supported by the Center for Bioimage Informatics include image restoration and reconstruction, animal trackers, virtual reality environments, real-time processing for emerging imaging technologies and high-content screens, machine learning on HPC and in the Cloud, and multi-dimensional data visualization.
Master’s degree (Computer Science or Computer Engineering) or equivalent
Seven (7) years of experience in software development is required
One or more certifications in IEEE CSDP, ICCP, CSE, OCP, AWS CDE, Microsoft (e.g., Azure, DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect), or ITIL preferred
