Under the direction of the director of ambulatory care operations transplant, the lead scheduler fulfills a variety of leadership scheduling roles to provide continuity of care for patients. S/he provides team cohesiveness, direction and educational opportunities to peers, in addition to guiding and establishing workflow processes to enhance delivery of care and streamline system operations. The lead scheduler will routinely be tasked with creating written workflows, protocols and process improvement plans to benefit patients and accelerate their scheduling process. The lead scheduler will participate in meetings and discussions with transplant leadership and work with ancillary departments to promote cohesive scheduling across outpatient clinics. S/he will assist the director with strategic planning to address volume growth, change, gaps in coverage, underperformance, lapse in turnaround times and other system issues which impede patient care. The lead scheduler will also be charged with managing acute or urgent cases assigned by the director which require immediate resolution. The lead scheduler will in-part be responsible for monitoring and tracking team performance and identifying and implementing resolutions to counter any gaps in performance or service in conjunction with the director. S/he should possess strong analytic skills and be able to evaluate and analyze data, using it to drive process improvement and impact positive change and outcomes. The lead scheduler should have excellent verbal and written skills, along with high-command of hospital and transplant IT systems. Knowledge of the transplant process and patient demographics is an essential function of the role. Bilingual fluency is strongly preferred.


Minimum Education: • HSD or GED • AA or BA or medical assistant certification required Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • 2+ years of experience in the medical field, including scheduling proficiency & expertise. • High content knowledge of medical terminology and transplant process. • Proficiency in OTTR, Cerner, Trace, GECB and MS Office. • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and provide effective resolution. • Demonstrates leadership skills and ability to provide education and support to peers. • Bilingual strongly preferred; if bilingual certified department translator strongly preferred Required License/Certification: • Medical Assistant if applicable • Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
