Lead Business Intelligence DeveloperACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The Lead Business Intelligence Developer will be a subject matter expert and team lead to provide high quality software technology solutions that address business data needs. The candidate will provide support in the creation of efficient and reusable processes associated with the deployment and security of Business Intelligence deliverables and effectively manage business objectives through data analysis, transformation and integration. The candidate will be responsible for mentoring, leading, planning, and providing project directives for the other developers on the team. Additionally, the candidate will support the manager by providing leadership in the overall development and expansion of Business Intelligence as well as system integration in Azure.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Lead, design, plan, and execute software development to support strategic objectives.
- Design and develop automation solutions to reduce manual work and create efficiencies
- Lead design sessions with developers, business analysts and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed solution.
- Lead and/or participate in architectural design process.
- Identify risks/issues and recommend solutions.
- Create ETL solutions to load data marts and data warehouses as well as structures in Azure
- Facilitate scrum meetings and sprint planning sessions with the team
- Design and implement database structures using best practices and cloud-based services
- Responsible for data-support use cases including member-focused, operation-focused, and market/industry-focused analytics, as well as opportunities in artificial intelligence.
- Review requirements documentation in order to interpret and map use cases, business rules and functional design with team members.
- Represent the Business Intelligence team at project meetings and provide estimates for the work
- Author and distribute technical specifications for review to peers and support teams such as Information Security and Information Technology Operations groups.
- Create reports, dashboards, scorecards and other visual aids that effectively communicate the results of the analytical research.
- Provide training and support to Business Intelligence team on Azure best practices.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required (i.e. Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Information Science) or equivalent professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of experience with Business Intelligence solutions
- 6+ years of experience in developing, optimizing SQL queries, ETL pipelines for OLTP, and data warehouse environments (Microsoft SQL server, Oracle, or similar database technologies) while ensuring best practices are followed.
- Experience with cloud services (MS Azure preferred).
- Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel skills – Pivot Tables, charts & graphs, formulas, etc.)
- Strong T-SQL and ETL development experience. SSIS and Azure Data Factory preferred.
- 6+ years working with SQL Server and relational database management systems
- Familiarity with standard project management principles and guidelines
- Financial services industry experience preferred
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience and solid understanding of fundamental Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse design and development methodologies and best practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, e.g., Data Lake, Data Catalog, Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Machine Learning Studio, and Azure Monitor.
- Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
- Experience with establishing technology guidelines based on best practices in enterprise data architecture and software development.
- Extensive database development experience programming complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Advanced level expertise using SQL Server or other enterprise database platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor other developers in a similar software development environment.
- Strong knowledge of Agile principles including scrum. Certifications preferred.
- Ability to follow and enhance software development standards (SDLC) for systems design, development, verification, and implementation.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and manage unstructured tasks within specific guidelines and time constraints.
- Knowledge of requirements gathering process and documentation structure.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation for newly created or modified custom applications.
- Eagerness to gain proficiency and earn certifications in new technologies.
- Interpersonal skills including collaborative style and ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software as necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of SharePoint and experience working in the role as a contributor at a minimum.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps or similar tool for code repository and work item tracking.
