JOB TITLE: Lao Outreach Worker - Must Speak Lao General Description: Primary Function: Qualifications Education: Bachelor degree in social work or related discipline preferred, minimum high school education or equivalent required. Additional Skills: Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations: Create and implement outreach methods to increase awareness of SEAMAAC’s programs. These methods include but are not limited to: interpreting/translating documents, conducting educational workshops, posting and distributing flyers, phone campaigns, and attending community fairs, events, and functions. Hours are primarily during regular business hours, with expectations of flexing to accommodate community activities occasionally during evenings and a minimum of five (5) weekend assignments per calendar year. The Lao Outreach Worker serves SEAMAAC’s clients in a culturally and linguistically appropriate, polite, and professional manner. He/she conducts outreach to immigrant and refugee communities, facilitates group activities, provides health and social service education, provides interpretation/translation, and conducts case management with immigrant and refugee clients. He/she increases clients’ awareness of, access to, and participation in a variety of health and social service programs.
Experience: At least two years of experience working with ethnic and racial minority communities and/or urban communities.
Language Abilities: Spoken fluency in English and Lao required, with written fluency in English and
Lao. Additional dialects or languages highly desirable .
