DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum experience: 6 months related experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possible shift work due to evening, weekend events, job location varies due buildings supported. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building, grounds and/or turf maintenance; Ability to conduct building cleaning and grounds maintenance operations; Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and general public. SELECTION GUIDELINES: TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical effort will include a full range of physical activity to include lifting, carrying and positioning objects up to 100 lbs; frequent bending, stooping, reaching, stretching and sitting. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The work environment is moderately quiet to noisy and distracting with multiple areas that need attention to detail. Maintains parks, athletic fields, and golf course by mowing, trimming and edging turf areas, prepping athletic fields/golf course for use, assisting in maintaining irrigation systems, providing landscaping as assigned, picking up trash, cleaning restrooms, adhering to the scheduled maintenance of parks and dragging and marking fields. May serve as custodian for Parks and Recreation and Economic Development Corporation buildings.
Under the general supervision of the Crew Leader.
Maintains and cleans interiors of City buildings and surrounding areas by mowing grass, maintaining landscapes, maintaining irrigation systems, picking up trash and other related duties as assigned.
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures of recreational programs and various recreations, aquatic and athletic events;
Ability to have basic computer skills and ability to operate field maintenance equipment;
Formal application, rating of education and experience; oral interview, reference check, criminal background checks, and drug screens are required. Job related tests may also be required.
Pickup truck; lawn/turf and landscaping equipment, including tractors, mowers, acidifiers/aeration equipment , chain saw, edger's, backflows, weed trimmers, trailers, backhoe, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, irrigation systems; miscellaneous hand and power tools for lawn maintenance; use of general building/office cleaning supplies.
