Job Description
Altius Diagnostics Laboratory, a growing toxicology laboratory in Bellevue, WA, is searching for a part-time, onsite Laboratory Director. The Laboratory Director, with assistance from the Laboratory Manager, will be responsible for the overall operations and administration of the laboratory. This part time position is 20 hours/week and does require the Director to be onsite the majority of those hours. There is the possibility to increase to a full-time, 40 hours/week position as the company grows.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the laboratory is compliant with all clinical laboratory regulations (CLIA)
- Maintain appropriate procedures and documentation for CAP accreditation
- Ensure quality laboratory services throughout the entire workflow (pre-analytical, analytical/testing, and post-analytical)
- Ensure that issues requiring corrective action are appropriate addressed and documented
- Be present during laboratory inspections
- Review and certify results
- Be accessible to clients (medical providers) to answer questions regarding laboratory results and interpretation
- Maintain target turnaround times on sample testing and reporting
- Hiring and training of personnel, including ensuring personnel have appropriate education and experience, as well as verifying competency
- Other duties as business needs dictate
Requirements:
- MD Pathologist or a Ph.D. (see below) with appropriate board certification to meet CLIA requirements to be a high-complexity laboratory director
- Experience in toxicology and urine drug testing
- Experience reviewing LC-MS/MS data
- Experience with clinical regulatory requirements
- 2+ years directing and supervising a high complexity clinical laboratory is desired
Certification Requirements:
- For MDs: Must be certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABP)
- For PhDs: The qualification for a laboratory director of high-complexity testing is that the laboratory director must hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution and be certified and continue to be certified by a board approved by HHS. - 4. ABCC 24-month Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (COMACC)
- 2. ABB public health microbiology certification
