BASIC FUNCTION:
Works with the human resources team to development and implementation of employee/labor relations strategies and tactics consistent with the need to achieve business and clinical goals. Works in collaboration with all other areas of Human Resources to support and develop the culture of the organization. Provides support in functional areas to include, but not limited to recruitment, employment records and the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline, Master’s degree preferred.
- 5- 7 years’ of experience in labor relations, human resources management or related field required
- Working knowledge of labor contracts and grievance process preferred
- Expertise in HR policies and procedures
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Provides employee and labor relations support
- Provides employee counseling
- Works closely with leadership to develop and maintain positive non-union work environment for all areas of the hospital (except those currently unionized).
- In unionized areas, responsible for developing and maintaining positive union-management relations, administering applicable contracts and resolving labor issues.
- Reviews/analyzes labor/employee relations issues and provides effective advise and support to management in avoiding grievances and when necessary resolving them.
- Administers and seeks input from central HR departments (recruitment, employment, benefits, compensation, HRIS) regarding HR policies and new initiatives, and delivery of those HR services.
- Provides support and expertise relating to employee selection and placement
- Participates in recruitment and retention initiatives and processes
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of state and federal employment law
- Provides support that all human resources actions are in compliance with federal and state laws. Assists with Joint Commission standards and surveys.
- Prepares termination and severance letters
- Collaborates with Organizational Development team for individual departmental training needs.
- Works with all levels of the organization to manage additional employee relations projects and programs.
