GENERAL DUTIES
Provide behavior support through prevention, interventions and responsive actions to K-12 staff and students. Conduct behavioral observations and evaluations, provide behavioral consultation and professional development training to District staff, and regularly attend school meetings. Manage and assign behavior cadre assistants to serve students and staff as support in school buildings. A team members on the Student Services support and feeder teams. Collaborate and cooperate with other educational professionals to best serve students needs and district goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of Master’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology or Counseling, or equivalent experience and training
- A valid Oregon Teaching License appropriate for the position
- A valid Oregon Driver’s license and reliable transportation for on the job travel
- Experience and expertise in student behavior management, collaborative problem solving, staff development
- The ability to provide leadership to staff in areas of specialization
- Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents, in a variety of settings
- The ability to write valid IEP’s and to follow IDEA and 504 procedures
- The physical ability to train and/or assist staff in physical management of students in crisis
- The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
- The ability to work harmoniously with others
- The ability to maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, and District patrons
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to present effectively to large groups
- Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
- The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred (bilingual is defined as fluency in reading, writing and speaking in two languages as determined by District screening tool)
