SERVICE PERSONNEL 2. Meet the bus and greet each child as they arrive. 3. Help the children to learn to care for their own personal belongings. 4. Collect monies for milk, lunch, pictures, etc. 5. Prepare daily attendance and other required reports. 6. Assist the teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, on the playground, in the cafeteria, and while loading and unloading buses. 7. Assist with recess and necessary “extra” trips. 8. Work with the teacher to cut down “waiting times” for the children. 9. Handle routine interruptions and provide assistance on occasions when the teacher is unavoidably occupied elsewhere. 10. Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. 11. Assist the teacher in the development of student self-discipline through reinforcement of positive behavior. 12. Assist in keeping bulletin boards neat, exciting, and up-to-date, and in making the room attractive and conducive for learning. 13. Assist the teacher by operating office and audio-visual equipment. 14. Keep records of children up-to-date, such as permanent records, health, and attendance cards, and individual file folders. 15. Assist during instructional times with activities such as drill work, reading, story telling, small group functions, as well as assists students at individual station activities. 16. Work with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher. 17. Assist individual children in need of special education, special needs and/or physical needs. 18. Contribute one’s talents in art, dramatics, music, crafts, etc. 19. Accompany teacher on home visits. 20. Assist in general cleaning such as disinfecting toys, mats, etc. 21. Evaluate the day’s work with the teacher and make plans for the following day. 22. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teacher. 23. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies. 24. Assist the teacher in the use of all available computer hardware and software. 25. Assist the students in the use of maintenance of all available computer hardware and software. 26. Perform such other tasks or assume such other responsibilities as the Superintendent or immediate supervisor may from time to time, assign.
