Kiln Operator
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:
The Kiln Operator reviews work orders, sets the kiln temperature based on the materials involved and order specifications, and then loads the kiln with one or more pieces. The Kiln Operator also reviews, signs and files all paperwork to ensure processes were completed properly. Responsible for unloading, counting and organization of new lumber.
Essential Functions:
- Determine kiln schedule daily.
- Review of process data for abnormalities review and sign all processed paperwork.
- Use Excel, Word, and white board to manage and update reports and lumber inventory daily by 8:00am.
- Involvement with projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Enter requisitions for the kiln as needed/requested by supervisor.
- Works with production to ensure product is at kiln and processed/loaded on time.
- Support maintenance with necessary PMs (notifies maintenance right away if anything is wrong).
- Participate in audits.
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing procedures and documents.
- Maintain accurate records for key department information.
- Maintains/cleans office, lumber areas and kiln (must be clean before leaving daily).
- Communicates daily to next shift what needs to be done before leaving.
POSITION QUALIFICATION:
Competencies:
- Experience operating a kiln (preferably in a pallet manufacturing facility).
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary.
- Must meet company core values and have a positive work attitude.
- Must be attentive to detail and possess strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Office required.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to work weekends and overtime as required.
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Forklift: 2 years (Preferred)
- Kiln: 1 year (Preferred)
