Position Summary: Plans, coordinates and conducts religious services, provides individual and group pastoral care and counseling for patients, families and staff, conducts orientation, education and training sessions for staff and community and provides patient/family education services. This position is required to understand and follow all patient safety policies and procedures, to participate in required Patient Safety training programs, to support and abide by the regulations as applied at this hospital, and to do all that is reasonable to prevent injury to patients, employees, the facility, and the general public. Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited theological or divinity school with a master’s or doctorate degree in divinity, theology or related field. Ordination and/or denominational or ecclesiastical endorsement. At least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education, one of which is accomplished in a psychiatric setting. The employee shall become familiar with HIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protected health information (PHI) and other personal or sensitive information within their trust in the course of state business by applying appropriate safeguards and sharing only the information required to deliver agency services. Any personal or sensitive information overheard or seen by the employee will be kept confidential by not sharing it with others, on or off the work-site grounds. Must have computer competency in approved hospital systems. Job Duties: - In accordance with the age-related, cultural and spiritual background, development and needs of patients, provides on-going religious and spiritual assessment, interventions and evaluation as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Conduct individual, group and family pastoral care and counseling.
- Provide consultation to treatment teams on issues of religious concern and spiritual care for patients. Provides documentation in the medical record on patient response to specified interventions.
- Provide pastoral care for employees as requested.
- Plan and conduct hospital worship, holiday, special occasion, funeral and memorial services and liturgies.
- Provide consultation on ethics and patient rights to patients, treatment teams and hospital management.
- Liaison with community religious groups, agencies and institutions to coordinate religious care of patients, religious volunteer services, and special programming or service needs for patients.
- Completes all annually required training according to established timeframes; other related duties, as assigned.
