Inventory Manager

Overview: Inventory Manager will perform functions to assist the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority) Warehousing & Logistics Support contract.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Shall perform a variety of inventory management and supervisory duties, to include, but not limited to the following:- Responsible for managing the material inventory at the Central Warehouse and multiple Base Support Locations.
- Reports to and coordinates with the Program Manager and serves as the Deputy Manager on-site.
- Communicates and corresponds frequently with the entire staff to convey work assignments, production requirements and overall inventory accountability and program success.
- Provides subject matter and functional area expertise in performing technical, inventory and program tasks.
- Provides data and reports and participates in conference calls and meetings as required.
- Formulates and enforces standards, assigns schedules, reviews work production and supervises personnel.
- Management level understanding of material inventory, warehousing and logistics operations.
- Actively participates in and assists the Program Manager with the overall successful and safe execution of project material and operations.
- Assists with and provides guidance to verify materials against receiving, shipping, storage, inventory documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damage, routing materials to prescribed storage, freight forward and/or shipping locations, storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
- Manages all material and documentation IRT; inventory, receipts, shipping, reports of discrepancy and/or deterioration and damage.
- Frequently reviews and sets High/Low Limits based on historical demand, usage and other determining factors.
- Manages the documentation and computer information process.
- Operates hand or power trucks and/or forklift to assist or perform inventory duties.
- Local travel to base locations for support, guidance and problem solving is required.
- This is a working Management Position and may require shift work and after-hours coverage.
Required Qualifications:- Knowledge of supply distribution management and inventory accountability concepts
- Analytical abilities, self-motivation, and experience with problem solving
- Experience with computer inventory/warehouse management systems
- Knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Proficient in grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license
- Four (4) years of supply chain experience managing a large warehouse inventory operation totaling over 100,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space carrying over 50,000 lines
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with government warehouse logistics management is preferred.
